Bernd and Hilla Becher are a husband and wife photography team that specializes in images of stereotypical buildings and industrial structures. In 1959, Bernd and Hilla Becher began working together as artist photographers in Düsseldorf, West Germany. They also photographed industrial architecture. In 1961, the Bechers married and began to develop a project of documentary photography on industrial constructions in the Netherlands. Both Bernd and Hilla Becher are professors of photography at the Staatliche Kunstakademie, Düsseldorf, Germany.
