Employed in Paris to make reproductions after the most distinguished artists of his day. He is noted as one of the best interpreters of Jean-Antoine Watteau, Jean François de Troy, and of Jean-Siméon Chardin. From the 1740s, he mainly made engravings after drawings by his son.
