Brief biography, in most instances from the Union List of Artist Names® Online:
Known for his illustrations for "Liberty," "Cosmopolitan," "College Humor," and other magazines. Appointed military artist for New York State in World War I, and made forty-six posters which were used by the U.S. Government. The best known is the poster featuring the character Uncle Sam and the words "I Want You."
