Signed in pencil, lower left: butterfly monogram; signed in plate, lower left: “Whistler. 1860”; inscribed on verso: ledger lines in pen and brown ink with names inscribed alphabetically under the heading “Reminiscences and Anecdotes of Lawyers and Authors” and one other undeciphered line

Edition: From the set “A Series of Sixteen Etchings of Scenes on the Thames and Other Subjects,” known as “The Thames Set,” published 1871. An impression of this print was exhibited at Royal Academy in 1862 as “Rotherithe.”
