Gift of Nancy and Greg Hugo from the collection of Harold Hugo (D. Hum. Wesleyan 1970), 1987

Provenance / Collectors' marks: Maria Bittner by 1960; acquired by Howard Hugo after 1960; by descent to his daughter and son, the donors. Harold Hugo, whose firm Meriden Gravure printed Bittner's book on Grosz, was a close friend of Bittner, who was in turn a close friend of Grosz. According to John Peckham of Meriden-Stinehour Press, the drawing was purchased by or given to Hugo probably around the time of the books publication in 1960.
