The image depicts “Nick Prokopeoff. Age about 70 yrs. An Aleut from Atka Island, Alaska. One of 23 evacuated by plane (see #35). Nick served as lay priest in the Russian-Greek Orthodox Church on Attu and conducted services in Russian” (per the artist’s notes on inventory list).
