Signed in conte crayon beneath portrait, right: “W. Langdon Kihn/’37”; inscribed in conte crayon, lower left: “PAPAGO GIRL/ SELLS, ARIZONA”; artist’s notes from inventory list: "Papago Girl. Age 13 years. A Papago Indian girl of Sells, Arizona. The Papago who are related to the PIMA are agriculturalists and the women are excellent basket-weavers.”
