“The Belgian painter and printmaker Evenepoel (also known as Henri Jacques Edouard Evenepoel) studied in Brussels and then in Paris at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. He also worked in the studio of Gustave Moreau, from whom he adopted a rich, brilliant palette. Evenepoel’s later scenes of contemporary life were influenced by the lithographs of Toulouse-Lautrec and Jean-Louis Forain.” [not from ULAN; unknown source]
