Provenance / Collectors' Marks: Commissioned by the subject’s father in 1904; completed in 1905; in donor’s husband’s family since painted in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Donor’s father, Burr Churchill Miller, was an expatriate sculptor in France for many years (known for sculpture of Thomas Brackett Reed, Portland, ME). Given by the subject’s widow.
