Medium and Support: Etching printed in dark brown ink and chiaroscuro woodcut printed in medium brown and light brown inks on laid paper
Print impression quality: Very good
Marks: Signed in plate, lower right: initial “C.”; inscribed, lower center: as after Peruzzi’s drawing then in the Crozat Collection and identifying the etcher as Caylus and the woodcut as by LeSoeur
Provenance / Collectors' Marks: Heinrich Schwarz (Lugt 1372)
Bibliography: Portalis and Beraldi (vol. 2, pp. 682–683) as “Man and Lion”; Peruzzi’s drawing was in the Crozat Collection and was reproduced by LeSueur and Caylus for “Recueil,” 1729–1742.
