Landau believes Premier Engraver was Giovanni Antonio da Brescia (active 1490 – ca. 1520). “Both Borenius and Hind consider that this engraving may be by Giovanni Antonio da Brescia. It is based on four of the dancing nymphs in Mantegna’s painting ‘Parnassus,’ ca. 1497 (Louvre). Only nine impressions are recorded by Hind, including the present example” [quotation source unrecorded].
