Medium and Support: Engraving on wove paper, probably late 18th century or early 19th century

State: First of two states, undescribed copy after Elstrack’s first state

Edition: A late 18th- to early 19th-century impression after the portrait by Elstrack (DAC 1944.D1.224b). A reproduction of the first state in the British Museum supports Hind’s description that it differs from the second state only in the printseller’s identification, lower right; the first state copy differs in many details from the second state.

Marks: Signed in plate, lower center: “Renold Elstrack Sculpsit”
