Published by Robert de Baudous. The set was formerly bound in a red leather album, gold-tooled with gilt edges owned by Simon Watney, Cornbury. The original DAC catalog card states that the album was bound by J. Clarke. The prints are pasted down along the left edge onto wove sheets, with hand-inked borders, that are numbered in sequence on verso from 1 to 20; 1 to 20; and 1 to 12. The first series consists of 20 sheets (Bartsch 31 – Bartsch 50), which were engraved in Goltzius’s workshop in 1589. The second series of 20 (Bartsch 51 – Bartsch 70) dates 1590. The third series of 12 (Bartsch 70 – Bartsch 82) was issued in 1615.

Number 166 from the edition of 210 plus 10 copies "hors commerce," printed by Auguste Clot, published Paris: Editions Ambroise Vollard (1933). 206 pages text on unbound double sheets in portfolio; imprint date on front cover is 1938, but Vollard issued only exhibition copies, and the book was never formally published (Johnson). The lithographs (and text pages?) were printed in 1933. 22 lithographs on single sheets in separate folder (see individual records); 15 wood engravings after drawings by Redon, in text by Georges Aubert; 22 wood engravings on 3 double sheets in separate folder as an index to the lithographs. The DAC’s lithographs represent 22 of the original 24 “third series" "Tentation" illustrations printed by Clot and Blanchard in 1896. Plates 1 and 8 are not represented in the DAC set of this 1933 edition. Lithograph plate numbers correspond to DAC accession numbers and are the same as the plate numbers assigned to the original (1896) "third series" edition by standard works such as Mellerio et al.; therefore DAC accession numbers 1961.1.1 and 1961.1.8 do not exist.
