Edmond François Aman-Jean
French painter, draftsman, and lithographer
French,
(1858–1936)
The decorative artist Aman–Jean studied under Henri Lehmann at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and Puvis de Chavannes. He became a friend of Seurat, with whom he shared a studio. Aman-Jean, who is considered an heir to the English Pre-Raphaelites, worked primarily in colored chalk and pastels; his experience with these media strongly influenced his work in lithography.
