Vito Acconci

After receiving an MFA from the University of Iowa, Acconci began producing his uncompromising, subversive visual work in 1969, using both video and performance. Throughout the 1970s, he focused primarily on sound pieces and installation, turning to sculptural installation in the 1980s. A retrospective exhibit and catalog was produced by the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art in 1980. Active New York City.
