Edition: This drawing was the final study for the etching of the same title. The copperplate version was one of ten illustrations for an English version of the Eclogues of Virgil, by Samuel Palmer, London, 1883. Most of the etchings were completed by the artist’s son, A.H. Palmer. (note by Richard S. Field)
